The Full Story
Our Background & Philosophy
As a working mother I found time to myself was difficult to manage. Between working a full time job, cooking and cleaning, and caring for my two young children and husband, there wasn't much "me" time. I wished for a place where I could relax and get much needed time to myself, while attending to all those craft and art projects I longed to complete. That's when I came up with the idea for Hygge Craft.
Hygge has long been a part of my life, albeit not always as prominently as I would like. I've been intrigued by the concept of cozy comfort and genuine happiness that hygge represents since I first learned about it as a young girl watching a program on my local public television station. I dreamed of one day living the hygge lifestyle in my mountaintop yurt surrounded by free range chickens and the sounds of nature. While I haven't yet attained "mountaintop yurt" status, I do try to remain mindful of my environment and happiness daily, and focus on bringing a calm, cozy sense of hygge to my home and family.
With Hygge Craft I hope to provide the same to my local community through art and creativity. The studio provides a relaxed, home-like environment in which to create beautiful works of art or just catch up on all those Pinterest ideas you've collected. Working with the hands is a great outlet with which you can work out all the stresses of daily life, create calm, and a general sense of happiness that comes with creating something beautiful. Join me, and bring more hygge into your life!
